RARE FIND HERE!!!! I got this at an estate sale. It was made exclusively for Home Interiors and originally sold for $425. No title but depicts two cowboys wearing their dusters descending from the mountain in a light rain. The frame measures about 42" x 35.5". This will be well wrapped between foam board and shrink wrapped before wrapping with cardboard. It will also be insured. I am offering print to lower 48 states and Canada.(There will be a $20 handling charge for Canada buyer-extra packaging) I'm afraid it would not survive any overseas journey(or be too expensive) And since it is well packaged and insured I am selling with no return. Any damage incurred during shipping will have to go through carrier claim process. Please ask questions before bidding. Thanks and Good Luck

Olaf Wieghorst (April 30, 1899, Viborg, Denmark – April 27, 1988, California, United States) was a painter of the American West in the vein of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell.Wieghorst emigrated to the United States from Denmark in 1918 and lived the rest of his life there. He spent his working career on mounted patrol with the U.S. Cavalry, was part of a campaign that chased Pancho Villa back across the border and the New York City Police Department Mounted Division, with occasional interludes as a wrangler on ranches in the western states. Wherever he went, he sketched and painted the Western culture he loved, often selling his work as calendar and magazine illustrations (such as Zane Grey's Western Magazine and Hoofs and Horns, an honor he shared with other cowboy artists such as Dan Muller).Wieghorst eventually settled in San Diego County, California and spent the rest of his life there working on his art. Many of his works can be found on display at the Olaf Wieghorst Museum in El Cajon, California (a San Diego suburb).Early yearsWieghorst was a stunt rider (horse) for a Danish circus before migrating to the United States at the age of 19.[edit] Later yearsHe appeared in two John Wayne movies in the 60's, McLintock! and El Dorado. Some of his art work was used in the open titles sequence in the film El Dorado.

From childhood, he was a sketcher, but it wasn't until a horse fell on him that he considered art as a career. In the hospital recovering from his injuries, he saw reproductions of Russell's paintings in a magazine, and that exposure set his career of portraying the lives of cattlemen. Charlie Dye worked as a cowboy in Colorado, Arizona, and California until he was 21 and then enrolled in Chicago at the Art Institute and the American Academy. In 1936, he moved to New York City to work as a magazine illustrator and took lessons from Harvey Dunn, known as a great illustrator. He also worked with Felix Schmidt in a commercial studio. Dye was a successful illustrator in New York, doing assignments for Saturday Evening Post, Argosy, Outdoor Life and The American Weekly. However, a trip to California alerted him to how little quality Western art existed, and he soon began vacationing and painting in the West, finally establishing a studio in Denver, Colorado and becoming a partner in the Colorado Institute of Art. Because of the wide acceptance of his painting, he gave up teaching and illustrating and in 1960, moved to Sedona, Arizona, where he gained recognition for his oil paintings of western scenes. On June 23, 1965, he, Joe Beeler, John Hampton along with George Phippen, organized the organization we now call The Cowboy Artists of America. George Phippen was its first and Charlie Dye the second president. The group is devoted to the painting and sculpture tradition of Charles Russell and Frederic Remington, and began with artists who not only depicted cowboys but were working cowboys themselves. Wow!! Here is an awesome Texas painting of a cowboy driving cattle, large size 24" x 36" oil on canvas, excellent condition in an equally awesome frame!! This was bought at the art show at the Fort Worth stockyards in the 1970's/I cannot find a signature, but it is very powerful in person....a centerpiece of the den or living room. The painting tested good under a strong blacklight, guaranteed you will love it!! Thanks for bidding, enjoy!!
