Charles Marion Russell 2 Vintage Cowboy Art Prints click to Enlarge click to Enlarge Description : Charles Marion Russell - 2 vintage art printsEach about 10-1/2 x 14Bear approaching campsite (1910)and cowboys taking ponies across river (1911)Not sure when these were printed by one is glued to a 1931 Red Cross Poster. There is some minor edge/corner wearOriginal item, NOT a copy or reprint.I acquire items at auction. Although my home is smoke free and pet free, I cannot guarantee these items came from same environment. Sometimes antique/vintage books contain a musty smell. Due to the rising costs of professional packaging materials, Ebay & paypal fees (they are now also charging a fee on my shipping costs!), I have begun charging a modest fee in addition to shipping charges. The fee will vary based on the size and packaging complexity of the item (typically less than $2). The fee will be included in the calculated shipping rate. I held out as long as I could (I've been selling on Ebay since 2000). As always, if you win multiple items, I will be happy to combine shipping to reduce the cost to you. As all my loyal buyers can hopefully appreciate, I do not want to reduce the quality of my services. As my feedback illustrates, I pack items in a professional manner and go through significant quantities of packing foam, bubble wrap, tape, good quality envelopes, etc - to insure your items arrive at your door safely. Unfortunately, this "handling charge" is a necessary evil in order to stay in business. Thank you! Buyers PLEASE!!!! I package as soon as item is sold...if you change your address in PAYPAL please be sure to also change it on Ebay....Or item may ship to wrong address. I try to check but some days I ship many items and I can miss your address discrepancy. PAYMENT MUST REACH ME WITHIN 7 Days, regardless of payment method. I do combine shipping on articles purchased within a 7 day period. Shipping may be higher based upon final weight. At this time I am not shipping outside of the USA. If you are living outside of USA but have a shipping address in the USA, please contact me after you try to bid and have been rejected. I can then choose to make an exception. Shipping : Shipping is normally first class for small paper items. Media will ship media rate unless it's cheaper to use first class. Payment : Payment is due in 7 (Seven) days regardless of method of payment. inkfrog terapeak i000000

This sure is a well done & nice oil painting on canvas. Artist signed lower left Voigt 83'. Canvas is 18 x 24, framed size 26 x 31. Painting is in exc. cond. quite clean, no damage. Frame has some scratching- all very shallow & minor fix-its. Frame is a "Made in Mexico", & although I'm sure it's the orig. , it could easily be replaced instead. The artist has a great style, & colors are wonderfully real & vibrant. There is a name & phone # on the back of frame edge. I'm sure it was an owners at one time, but nothing to do w/ artist or anything I'm quite certain. Chances are though, that this is an original Utah piece, & if you like cowboy art, it is definitely one to look at. I ship Fed Ex, which is less on large or heavy items than what is probably showing, but DUMB rules on Ebay, won't show Fed ex rates - So buyer contact me before paying. Happy to answer questions.

Frederic Remington | The Bronco Buster aka "The Bronco Buster" This auction is for a wonderful bronze statue of Frederic Remington's famed "Broncho Buster", an official issue of the Frederic Remington Art Museum through the Franklin Mint in 1988. We inherited this sculpture, so I have done my best to research it's origin, history and value for you here in this listing. Please feel free to contact me with further questions, so that you may do your own research on this artifact. Originally conceived by Remington in 1895, the statue depicts a cowboy breaking in a wild horse and it has become one of the iconic symbols of the Old West. This would make a wonderful addition to a room decorated in a Western motif and would look great displayed on a desk or on top of a bookcase. It stands approximately six inches high and measures approximately six inches from the end of the horse's tail to the end of his nose. Description: Exactly as seen in photo. The statue is made of bronze by The Lost Wax Casting Process. "Frederic Remington" is engraved onto the base of the bronze. Frederic Remington (1861-1909) cast 22 different subjects. The first foundry with which he worked was the Henry-Bonnard Bronze Company in New York. Four different sculptures were cast in bronze, starting in 1895, using the sand-casting method. They were The Broncho Buster, The Wounded Bunkie, The Wicked Pony, and The Scalp. In 1900 Remington began working exclusively with the Roman Bronze Works, New York. They produced his bronzes using the lost-wax bronze casting process until his death in 1909. Remington's widow, Eva, authorized the foundry to continue casting Remington's bronzes, until her death in 1918. By direction of Eva Remington's will, the foundry destroyed the molds shortly after her death. Measurements: 6" from tail of horse to nose, 6" from base bottom to top of cowboy's hat. Perfect desktop or Curio Cabinet display case size. POLICIES: Please ask all questions before bidding. I am happy to email more detailed item photos.Shipping will be based on actual package weight. PLEASE INSURE YOUR SHIPMENT. Sale is final. No Returns. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - In SOUTHWEST ART By Michael Duty In The Bronco Buster, Remington took a single element of western life and turned it into an icon of the West. Because the essential action of the moment is captured so well, the piece is a perpetual symbol of life at that particular time while also representing all the inherent human drama of such a struggle. The rider is engaged in a dangerous activity, and a false move, a lack of concentration, or a failure of will could result in death. But along with the danger, there is a sense of adventure and excitement. Here is an instance in which man controls his own destiny. His skill and ability will determine the outcome. This sort of individual test is intimately tied up with our perception of the old West. Remington and other western artists, both historic and contemporary, have done much to create and perpetuate the perception of the West as a place where men play out primal conflicts and take charge of their destiny. It is a romantic notion but one that endures, which is one reason that The Bronco Buster’s popularity endures. In 1923 this Museum opened, holding Eva Remington's collection of Remington's art and archives. The institution maintained the copyrights on Remington's bronzes until they expired in the 1960s. Illegal forgeries were made starting soon after Eva Remington's death. Since the copyrights expired, there have been copies in just about all shapes, sizes, colors, etc. Some places are even making bronzes that Remington "might have made if he had lived longer." There is no law governing the manufacture of these copies even though many of them clearly say, "Copyright by Frederic Remington" on them. Authenticity The words "authentic" and "original" do not apply to Remington bronze reproductions. If you are wondering whether something is original or not, consider the price that's being asked and the circumstances under which it is being offered for sale. Sometimes Remington bronze reproductions are offered as "vintage," "older," "signed," "estate," and "original," when none of these words apply. Buyers are often urged to spend far more than the reproductions are worth. Generally, authentic Remington bronzes are not available anywhere for less than $75,000. Here are two things to look for to reassure yourself further that a particular sculpture is not an original Remington bronze: 1. foundry mark. Most copies bear no indication of where they were made. Authentic sculptures are made with the foundry's name clearly cast into the bronze base. 2. In very few instances will an authentic cast be mounted on a marble base. Copies are frequently mounted on them. There is always great curiosity about numbering. Original bronzes are numbered sequentially. They were made and numbered more or less according to the demand, i.e. 1,2,3, etc. not 1/100 or 19/50. Many copies are misleadingly numbered in this second "3/100" fashion. The location of the number on original sculptures is usually under the bronze base. Origin Since most copies do not bear the name of the foundry that made them, it is a total mystery where and when they were made. How Are Reproductions Made? The most common method is for a sculpture to be reproduced is for a sculptor to look at photos of an original bronze and make a model in wax or clay. A mold is then made from the model to cast the copies in bronze. The other method, which brings better results, and the one which many companies would like you to believe they use, is by making recasts (also called surmoulages). To make a recast, an original sculpture is needed (although we're sure there have been copies made of copies). Technicians take the surface impression of the sculpture with latex, then make a mold from that impression with which to cast copies. Using either method, details are often added that Remington never intended. The presence of elaborate detail is not an indication of authenticity. Value Our information on what these facsimiles cost comes mostly from callers who have seen them for sale or have bought them. They seem to range from a couple hundred to several thousand dollars. They do not appreciate in value and should not be purchased as an investment. This reproduction version of The Mountain Man is one of many recently made version. This one belongs to a private collector in India. How to Shop for a Reproduction We suggest going to the library and looking for advertisements in many periodicals, such as Southwest Art, The Wall Street Journal, and a great variety of art and antique magazines. You should find a large array of companies selling their copies. Order and compare their literature. You can find a selection of bronze reproductions ranging from full size to miniatures. This Museum currently has contracts with two companies making closely supervised copies of original sculptures in our collection. These copies are marketed and sold with our name on them. There is a series of mini-bronzes that Franklin Mint produces with our authorization, as well as pure silver, full-size recasts from Silversmiths USA. For information on the reproductions sold in the Frederic Remington Art Museum Shop, browse online. Originals The location of almost all of the original Remington bronzes is known. When original bronzes are sold, it is almost always either at auction at Sotheby's or Christie's in New York or through a handful of galleries that specialize in Western American Art, such as Mongerson Galleries in Chicago, J.N. Bartfield Galleries in New York, Gerald Peters Galleries in New York and Santa Fe, and Graham Galleries in New York.On Sep-22-11 at 10:33:27 PDT, seller added the following information:"I knew the wild riders and the vacant land were about to vanish forever... and the more I considered the subject, the bigger the forever loomed. Without knowing how to do it, I began to record some facts around me, and the more I looked the more the panorama unfolded. Art is a she-devil of a mistress, and if at times in earlier days she would not even stoop to my way of thinking, I have persevered and will so continue." ~ Frederic Remington
